Charity
Samantha’s work for charities includes hosting events, chairing discussions and sitting on expert panels as a guest. She commits a lot of time in particular to supporting children’s charities. She is also a mentor for young adults from under privileged backgrounds interested in a career in the media.
She has interviewed celebrities and CEO’s including Ross Kemp, Martin “money saving expert” Lewis and Ocado CEO Tim Steiner to help raise funds for charities such as the ORT educational charity and Norwood home for children and adults with learning difficulties.
Samantha is also very committed to helping interfaith groups build relations between the Jewish and Muslim communities. She has hosted a ” Seeds of Peace ” event in the House of Lords alongside Lord Stone, bringing together different grass roots organisations aimed at bringing Israeli’s and Palestinians together to foster better relations in the region and in the wider International community.
She interviewed Lord Dubs and Barbara Winton (daughter of Sir Nicholas Winton, the man behind the kinder transport) for the Holocaust Educational Trust conference.
Thank you for hosting the conversation between Lord Dubs and Barbara Winton. You guided the conversation skilfully and I thought the session was very special.
Samantha also chaired a discussion following the screening of the film ‘Irons in the Fire’ narrated and supported by Idris Elba, which explores the opportunities and frustrations faced by youth in London.
We really enjoyed listening to Samantha Simmonds’ riveting account of covering the 9/11 attacks. The audience was spellbound.
Shelley BlackstoneSamantha you did a brilliant job – you kept the momentum going and the debate pretty focused. People were really engaged which was great.
